We have an opportunity for an Accounting Manager in our Tampa, FL Corporate Office as a key part of the centralized Finance team.
This role is designed to have a big impact in our growing business both organically and through acquisitions. The ideal person is a detail-oriented, highly analytical accounting guru. In this role, you will support monthly close processes, perform complex reconciliations, manage debt accounting, fixed assets, revenue recognition, intercompany transactions, and inventory accounting. You will work closely with branch management and the Controller to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Your analytical expertise will be critical in driving financial performance and refining our accounting processes.
Location: This role is located in Tampa, FL near the Westshore/Airport area.
Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close & General Ledger Oversight: Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. Manage the integrity of the general ledger and ensure proper consolidation of financial data for reporting purposes.
- Reconciliations & Complex Accounts: Perform and oversee reconciliations of complex accounts (debt, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, revenue, payroll, and inventory) addressing discrepancies as needed.
- Debt & Lease Management: Manage debt accounting, including lease obligations and earnouts payable, ensuring all entries are recorded accurately in accordance with company policies.
- Fixed Assets & Depreciation: Maintain and track consolidated fixed asset records, including accurate depreciation and amortization calculations.
- Revenue & Accounts Receivable: Analyze revenue streams and accounts receivable, including retainage, deferred revenue, and bad debt, in collaboration with the controller to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of records across all entities.
- Preliminary Profit & Loss Reviews: Conduct monthly preliminary P&L reviews segmented by branch to ensure accurate financial reporting and early identification of variances.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the accounting department and suggest automation or changes to improve efficiency. Work closely with the team to implement new processes or technologies that streamline workflows.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, consistency, and compliance within the accounting department.
- Collaboration: Work closely with finance and operational teams in performing accounting tasks to ensure timely and accurate delivery of month-end close processes across all branches.
- Budgeting &Forecasting Support: Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, contributing to the company’s overall financial planning and strategic goals.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional accounting-related tasks as required by the business to support operational and financial needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance ,or a related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP software preferred.
- Strong technical skills, critical thinking, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Proven experience in managing teams with a focus on accounting/finance leadership.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and revenue growth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for managing teams and resolving customer and vendor issues.
- Skilled in identifying challenges and implementing effective solutions.
Compensation:
- Competitive base salary to commensurate based on experience; potential to earn up to 10% of annual salary in bonuses, based on performance in profitability, growth, service revenue, quality, and safety.
